Questions homeowners ask

What do the Netting meter directions mean?

Eversource identifies “kWh from Eversource” as grid imports and “kWh to Eversource” as grid exports. Its bill guide describes net usage as imports minus exports. Keep both directions and the billing dates rather than comparing only the payment due.

Is the export reading the system’s total solar production?

No. Eversource explains that onsite consumption makes exported energy different from total production. Identify the revenue-meter and production-meter records before using a dashboard number to explain a bill line. Match periods and units.

Can a Buy-All bill show no incentive credit without proving a fault?

Eversource says the on-bill portion can be zero depending on the selected allocation between bill credits and quarterly cash incentives to a different payment beneficiary. Reconcile the accepted allocation and payment records before deciding that production or compensation is missing.

Where does Eversource identify the accepted payment selections?

The bill guide directs customers to the Statement of Qualification emailed at application approval. Retain that statement and ask the utility to reconcile it with any later accepted change. A proposal is not the accepted election record.

Is the approval date alone the incentive-rate year?

Eversource’s current assignment guidance says applications submitted by December 31, 2025 receive 2025 rates regardless of approval timing; applications submitted in 2026 receive 2026 rates. Request the recognized submission date and assigned terms for your project.

What quantity is used for the 2026 Netting Solar Energy Adjustment?

Eversource lists $0.0402 per kWh of total solar production for Netting projects submitted in 2026. It appears as a separate bill line. Check the project’s assigned year and production record; exported kWh alone are not the stated charge basis. Reviewed October 7, 2026.

Can the buyer freely choose a new RRES incentive type at a home sale?

Eversource’s currently linked home-sale FAQ says the existing incentive structure stays with the premise. Obtain account-specific utility confirmation and transfer instructions. This statement does not resolve system ownership, financing, payment-beneficiary changes or private contract obligations.

Your decision checklist

  • Confirm the serving utility and Connecticut RRES enrollment.
  • Save the recognized application date and accepted terms.
  • Label revenue-meter imports and exports separately.
  • Keep total production distinct from exported energy.
  • Retain the Statement of Qualification and payment allocation.
  • Match the production charge to the assigned year.
  • Clarify incentive and payment records before a home transfer.

RecordEvidence and next question
Program identityServing utility, RRES election, recognized application date and accepted project terms; this guide is Eversource Connecticut-specific.
Revenue meterGrid imports, grid exports, reading dates and net usage; preserve the original bill chart.
Production meterTotal-production record, reading dates and meter identifier kept privately; distinguish it from the export line.
Payment electionStatement of Qualification, accepted on-bill and cash allocations, beneficiary confirmation and any approved change.
Payment historyBill credits, cash-payment records, expected period and unresolved reconciliation; do not assume all compensation appears on one bill.
Adjustment lineAssigned application year, charged production quantity, applicable price and any utility explanation or correction.
Home transferExisting incentive structure, current payment roles, written utility instructions and separate owner/lender contract questions.

Fictional quantity example: assume a 2026 Netting project has 800 kWh of total production and 600 kWh of exports in the same billing period. Applying the currently published 2026 production-charge basis gives 800 × $0.0402 = $32.16 for that illustrative line, rather than 600 × $0.0402 = $24.12. The quantities are invented to show the difference between records. This is not an actual bill, a complete charge calculation or a savings estimate; confirm the assigned terms and actual billed quantity with Eversource.

Fictional payment example: a Buy-All owner sees a zero incentive-credit line and opens a service complaint before locating the approved payment selection. The owner instead builds a reconciliation folder with the accepted statement, bill periods, payment-beneficiary confirmation and any cash-payment evidence. A blank or zero bill line alone cannot determine the outcome. Ask the utility to explain the allocation and any missing payment before attributing the issue to an inverter. This example promises no payment amount or cause.

Reviewed October 7, 2026 against Eversource’s bill-reading guide, 2025/2026 incentive-assignment guidance and home-sale incentive FAQ. The bill guide is dated March 2025 and includes a 2025 charge illustration; use the separate year-assignment page for the 2026 charge above. The home-sale FAQ is dated November 2022 and remains linked in the current documentation hub. Ask Eversource to confirm the applicable account documents and any later change. Keep the source date beside the fact it supports.

This resource helps an Eversource Connecticut RRES homeowner read meter and payment records. It does not apply Eversource’s terms to United Illuminating, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, legacy net metering or a non-residential program. The organizer and invented examples are editorial preparation aids, not extra legal requirements. No installer guarantee, tax conclusion, private-contract transfer decision or eligibility determination is provided.

Collect existing documents safely. Do not open a meter enclosure, alter wiring, change export settings, energize unapproved equipment, climb onto a roof or perform live electrical tests to explain a payment line. Keep credentials, account and meter identifiers, beneficiary details and signatures private. Ask the appropriate party for a dated written explanation of any unresolved record.

Continue with Connecticut tariff-choice questions, solar bill measurement checks and solar home transaction records. Solar Survey AI’s evidence methodology helps separate technical observations from unanswered payment assumptions. For a technical concern, confirm available inspection scope, location availability, qualifications, access, fees and commercial conflicts. Third-party does not automatically mean independent. An inspection cannot assign a tariff, change a payment beneficiary, approve interconnection or guarantee bill savings.
