Technician Academy

A checklist alone does not teach a new technician how to document a roof, handle a homeowner question or recognize missing evidence.

Technician training

Who it was designed for

Residential field technicians preparing to collect survey evidence, and administrators overseeing readiness.

Technicians see their own training progress. Administrators see training status and controls. Clients do not have access to Academy endpoints.

What it does

The Academy combines required reading, lesson self-checks, a sandbox practice survey and a final exam. Topics include homeowner etiquette, safety, field photographs and the survey handoff.

Progress is saved to the technician’s own account. Exam review shows missed questions and explanations so the technician can revisit the relevant lessons.

Administrators can review Academy status and aggregate question miss rates. This gives the team a concrete way to address training gaps before new field work starts.

How it fits your workflow

STEP 1

Read the lessons

Open Academy in your technician workspace and complete each lesson’s self-checks.

STEP 2

Practice the capture

Complete and submit the sandbox practice job with its checklist coaching tips.

STEP 3

Review and qualify

Take the unlocked exam, review the results and revisit lessons when a retake is needed.

Illustrated workflow. These cards explain the process; they are not screenshots of a customer project.

The practical value

Administrators can review Academy status and aggregate question miss rates. This gives the team a concrete way to address training gaps before new field work starts.

A concrete use case

A new residential technician practices documenting an unreadable electrical label in the sandbox rather than guessing a rating on a homeowner’s survey.

Requirements and limits

The current final exam requires every answer to be correct. A failed attempt has a one-hour retake wait. Reading and practice must be complete before the exam unlocks.

Academy status can gate starting new field jobs; grace periods and administrator waivers apply. In-progress work can still be finished and synced.

The practice job uses demo data and is not delivered to a client or CrewLink. This is Solar Survey AI’s internal training qualification, not an FAA credential, professional license or safety certification.
