Save Survey Photos to Your Phone

Field technicians may need a local copy of survey photos while the job still needs a complete uploaded record.

Operations & field

Who it was designed for

Assigned field technicians using the Solar Survey AI technician website on a phone.

Sign in to the technician website, open an assigned job and use Take photos. The job’s available non-drone photos can also be prepared from its download card. Your existing job access still applies.

What it does

The web camera offers Save N photos to phone after you take photos. A tap hands those files to the phone’s share sheet when file sharing is supported; otherwise, the browser downloads a copy of each photo.

For photos already available on the job, Download all my photos for this job fetches the original images and shows progress. Once they are ready, tap Save N photos to phone. This separate tap lets the browser open its share sheet.

On a supported iPhone browser, choose Save Image or Save Images in the share sheet to keep the files in Photos. On other browsers, check the browser’s download destination; a download is not a guarantee that an image was added to the camera roll.

The job download card excludes drone originals. It keeps failed image downloads visible, so you can see when the prepared set is incomplete and try again.

Saving a local copy and uploading survey evidence are separate actions. The same survey upload workflow and completion requirements continue to apply.

Release review

Reviewed October 14, 2026. This guide covers the released technician website workflow. Assigned-job permissions, browser file support and survey upload requirements still apply.

How it fits your workflow

STEP 1

Open your assigned job

Use the technician website and take photos, or choose Download all my photos for this job for available uploaded images.

STEP 2

Prepare the available files

Wait for the job download to finish and check whether any images could not be downloaded.

STEP 3

Save from a tap

Tap Save N photos to phone. Choose Save Images in a supported share sheet, or check your browser’s downloads.

Illustrated workflow. These cards explain the process; they are not screenshots of a customer project.

The practical value

A deliberate local save gives technicians another copy of available survey photos without changing the job’s evidence or approval workflow.

A concrete use case

After photographing the electrical equipment, a technician taps Save 4 photos to phone and chooses Save Images in the phone’s share sheet. The technician still checks that those four photos uploaded to the correct job before treating the survey capture as complete.

Requirements and limits

This guide covers the released technician website. Automatic saving from an installed mobile app depends on a separately available app version and its photo permissions.

Browsers cannot silently write every photo to the camera roll. File sharing support, the phone’s share options and download rules determine where a saved file goes.

A successful share-sheet handoff is not confirmation that the user chose Save Images. Cancelling the share sheet leaves that choice unfinished.

The job-level download needs a connection to fetch available originals and enough device storage for the files. A partial download is not a complete backup.

Drone originals are excluded from the job’s phone-save card. This guide does not replace the drone upload or full client survey download workflow.

Local files can retain location metadata and remain on the device after the web session ends. Handle them according to your company’s survey-data and device policies.

A local photo copy does not establish a successful upload, submitted survey, completed visit or delivered report.
