New Jersey SREC-II: Registration and Payment Records

Track New Jersey SREC-II certification, GATS registration, meter readings and payment-account records. Resolve missing steps and solar-home ownership changes.

Make the decision with evidence

Questions homeowners ask

Does a SuSI registration mean certificate payments are ready?

No. The payment administrator requires program approval and the State Certification Number before GATS facility registration and a separate payment application. Keep the dated decisions, not just a submission receipt.

Which identifiers belong in my certificate-payment records?

The administrator requests the NJCEP certification letter, system details, GATS Unit ID and payment information. Ask the installer for missing array details. Record which identifier belongs to which system and portal; a utility account number is a different record. Use the official portal for bank details.

What does the GATS standing order do?

The administrator instructs new applicants to select automatic standing-order creation during generator registration. Its manual route names Solar Incentives NJ Program as the receiving account. Ask GATS to confirm the actual order and destination for your facility. Request an explanation before authorizing a transfer you do not understand.

Are SREC-II certificates based only on exported electricity?

No. The administrator explains that a certificate represents 1 MWh of solar generation, reported through solar meter readings to GATS. On-site consumption and net-metering exports do not change that certificate count. Preserve the generation record separately from the utility bill.

Which production number should I report when managing my own account?

The administrator’s instructions use the lifetime production meter reading, rather than a monthly generation total, and recommend monthly reporting. Ask the installer or GATS how to obtain the correct reading for your equipment. Do not substitute a utility export total or an unconfirmed app figure.

Does a home sale automatically move the payment registration?

No. The administrator describes seller/buyer GATS transfer paperwork and a Schedule A for a buyer who will self-manage. The buyer creates and activates a portal account, without a new payment application. The administrator transfers the existing application after GATS approval, required documents and final previous-owner payments. Confirm the route for an aggregator-managed system.

How should I investigate missing income or an aggregator promise?

Make a dated list: certificate creation, transfer confirmation, payment-application status, invoice notice and actual deposit. Ask the party responsible for the first unresolved step to explain it in writing. Compare any private administrator’s authority, fees and contract terms before accepting an income projection. Keep account credentials and bank information out of shared worksheets. A past deposit or an installer estimate does not guarantee future income.

Your decision checklist

  • Find the actual program decision and certification number.
  • Match the GATS Unit ID to the correct solar facility.
  • Confirm certificate-management authority and the transfer destination.
  • Identify the correct production reading and reporting owner.
  • Locate the payment application and written status.
  • Trace missing income to the first unresolved administrative step.
  • Confirm the actual ownership-transfer route before budgeting income.

Fictional missing-payment example: the installer supplies a utility permission-to-operate email and a dashboard screenshot, while the owner has no certificate-payment application reference. Put those items in separate rows. Ask who completed each registration and locate the issued confirmations before attributing the missing deposit to poor panel performance. A technical concern and an administration concern may require different evidence.

Fictional home-sale example: a listing includes last year’s certificate deposits, but the buyer receives no administrator transfer confirmation. Ask the transaction team to identify the actual rights holder, manager and unresolved steps. Keep past deposits separate from the buyer’s budget assumptions. Have the relevant adviser resolve contractual rights; our organizer does not decide ownership or predict income.

NJCEP’s SuSI overview says registration must precede construction. Obtain the applicable program instructions before work starts; a later payment account does not substitute for that step.

Reviewed October 7, 2026 against NJCEP’s SuSI registration and payment overview, the administrator’s payment-registration instructions and its generation and ownership FAQs. This guide concerns residential records for a facility actually identified as SuSI/ADI eligible. Do not apply it to legacy SRP, TREC or another incentive program by assumption. Current program instructions and actual decisions control the registration route. We omit incentive rates, individual deadlines, eligibility decisions and payment timing promises. Confirm current instructions directly. The organizer and fictional examples are editorial preparation aids.

Continue with REC rights and environmental claims, solar-home transaction evidence and electricity-bill measurements. Solar Survey AI’s evidence methodology separates observed conditions from unresolved questions. Confirm available inspection scope, location availability, qualifications, access, fees and commercial conflicts for a technical concern. Third-party does not automatically mean independent. A survey cannot register a facility, decide certificate ownership or issue program payments. Homeowner monitoring connections and planned free remote diagnosis remain coming soon. Do not open electrical equipment, change settings or climb onto a roof to complete these records.
