Preliminary 3D Roof Designer

A flat satellite overlay cannot explain how an array sits on an available sloped surface.

Sales & proposals

Who it was designed for

Sales teams reviewing a preliminary roof-slope array concept.

Available to SSAI administrators and company-scoped client sales or company-administrator users. Proposal access remains restricted to the user’s company.

What it does

Explicitly load available Google Solar imagery and elevation into a separate textured roof designer. Orbit, pan, zoom or switch to top view; choose a catalog module or custom dimensions, then place arrays on locally fitted roof slopes. Remove or restore individual modules. Placement records roof height, tilt and azimuth, with a preliminary roof-footprint check to exclude invalid modules.

How it fits your workflow

STEP 1

Load roof data

Explicitly load available Google Solar imagery and elevation.

STEP 2

Place and inspect

Choose module dimensions and place arrays on preliminary fitted slopes.

STEP 3

Save the context

Retain the array inputs and source metadata with the proposal.

Illustrated workflow. These cards explain the process; they are not screenshots of a customer project.

The practical value

A separate textured roof scene makes preliminary placement easier to inspect. Recorded source metadata keeps the provider’s coverage, age and quality visible with the concept.

A concrete use case

A sales user loads an available roof scene, places an array on a locally fitted slope and reviews invalid modules before saving the preliminary design.

Requirements and limits

Coverage and imagery age vary; source and historical-imagery warnings remain visible.

The Google roof scene is separate from Mapbox. Placement does not establish surveyed accuracy, code/setback compliance or shade results.

PDFs retain a 2D layout and source schedule, not an interactive textured roof model.
